Pukemokemoke Bush Update: No More Dogs Allowed from 1 June 2025
Hi Everyone
We wanted to let you know about a new policy at Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve. Starting 1 June 2025, dogs won’t be allowed in the reserve anymore. This decision by the Trustees wasn’t made lightly, but it’s important for a few reasons:
- Wildlife Protection: We have some amazing wildlife here, and they need a safe space without any disturbances.
- Preserving Nature: Dogs can sometimes harm the plants and soil, and we want to keep the reserve as beautiful as possible.
- Visitor Experience: We want everyone to have a peaceful and enjoyable time when they visit.
We know this would be a disappointment for those of you who love bringing your dogs along to Pukemokemoke. There are other areas in the Waikato where dogs are welcome, and we encourage you to check those out e.g. Minogue Park or follow this link on the Waikato District Council website:
Thanks for understanding and helping us keep Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve a special place for everyone. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
Regards,
David Johnstone Pukemokemoke Bush Trustees
